My story began in Dec 1990, when my mother had her first attack of brain hemorrhage and paralysis right in front of my eyes resulting in coma and leaving us in despair. That moment changed my entire life leading to many upheavals from deterioration of my parent’s health to collapse of family business ultimately putting me into an emotional, financial and social struggle as we are 3 female siblings.
“Happiness, Love and Smiles All Around Us – This is my dream – Ayesha Majid Lari”
With a drive to do something in life I remained positive and paved my way relentlessly with completing my education with the help of some extended family member and doing some odd chores while completing my Masters in HRM (best fitted for me as I had a flair of connecting with humans) putting behind my other passion to play National level cricket. Luckily, I have been born to parents who supported me breaking the stereotypes of our cultural norms of the patriarchal society and limiting the female child behind doors and not developing a human potential that one can.
Having spent 16 years plus in the corporate world as an HR professional; facing an illness of my parents for about 25 years ultimately bidding farewell to them in 2011 (mother) and 2015 (father), experiencing health conditions myself and living all by myself, I have now dedicated my life to serve humanity in whatever way I can through Spreading Smiles and wellness courses around mental health reforms.
Started in 2013, Spreading Smiles has been making memories for the most deserving members of our society: the young, the old, the lonely, the abandoned. Team Spreading Smiles aims to spread smiles anywhere and everywhere spreading joy and love one step at a time by volunteering in Old Homes, Orphanage, Transgender Community Support and Food Drive projects.
Transparency, integrity and clear communication are the guiding principles for Spreading Smiles. As a result, we elicit high levels of trust from our local and international donors and are known for our credibility among donor communities & general public alike.
We follow a project-based approach, with team leads assigned to different projects, with a fall-back person assigned in case of emergencies or crises, which in most cases is Ayesha herself. Everyone is welcome, in fact, encouraged, to participate, share ideas, lead projects & also seek support.
Spreading Smiles has a network of hundreds of volunteers across the country. The following core team members help oversee and coordinate various projects and liase with the volunteers
